The Pets stamp collection, recently released by the Postal Service, showcases the beloved domestic animals that hold a special place in the hearts of Americans.
Featuring a total of 20 stamps, this collection includes two dogs, two cats, two birds, two fish, four reptiles, five rodents, a crustacean, a rabbit, and a horse. The diverse range of animals represented reflects the variety of pets that people have in their homes across the nation.
In a news release, the USPS highlighted that over half of all households in the United States have pets, making them a significant part of our lives. Chief Marketing and Sales Officer James Cochrane emphasized the love, happiness, and companionship that pets provide to their owners, stating that these animals become cherished family members.
The stamps themselves feature striking photographs of the animals against clean white backgrounds, capturing their unique personalities and characteristics. The photographs were taken by Eric Isselée, who skillfully captured the essence of each animal.
The dedication of the Pets stamps took place on August 2 at a pet retailers’ show in Las Vegas, with various participants in attendance. James Bilbray, chairman of the USPS Board of Governors, Doug Poindexter, president of the World Pet Association, Robert Vetere, founder and chairman of the Pet Leadership Council, and comedian and homeless pets advocate Gregory Popovich were among those present to commemorate the release of these special stamps.
The Pets stamp collection celebrates the joy and importance of our furry, feathery, and scaly friends, reminding us of the significant bonds we share with them and the positive impact they have on our lives.
